W National Park

W National Park is shared by both Benin and Niger. The creatures that live here benefit from the transition between savannah and forest and include large flocks of migrating birds. The site has also revealed traces of early neolithic inhabitants, which is impressive. More evidence of the great variety of the ecosystem is found here. Visitors must pay for a 24-hour entrance to the park, and 4WD or hiking trips are also offered.

The majority of plants are shrubs. This National Park is home to one of Africa's remaining wild elephants. Other uncommon creatures include the African Wild Dog, the Saharan cheetah, the giraffe, and around 350 species of wild birds, making it an important bird zone. People visit the park to observe the remains of early Neolithic residents.

In the national park, a total of 454 species of plants were recorded, including two orchids found only in Niger. The park also constitutes the southern limit of tiger bush plateaus distribution in Niger. The park has been another Unesco World Heritage site in Burkina Faso since 1996.
