Le Chalet
Top 4 in Top 5 Best Restaurants in DR Congo
Le Chalet reopened its doors to the public on December 14, 2012. On the first floor, there is an alpine restaurant and a souvenir shop. In the winter, the barn serves as a ski school office, while in the summer, it serves as a workshop and exhibition space. A miniature replica of the Montreux-Oberland-Bernois (MOB) line, which connects the Montreux region with the Bernese Oberland, is also on display at Le Chalet.
The biggest tourist draw is watching a cheesemaker in traditional garb produce hard cheese. "Le Chalet Organic" is then aged in a cellar before being served with the restaurant's signature dishes. Aside from the typical meat items, there's also delicious pizza from a wood-fired oven and good set-meal deals on the menu. After lunch, stick around for some sunbathing and swimming. The restaurant rents kayaks and even a motorized pontoon (US$60 per hour) from which you can view the magnificent lakefront mansions of the DRC's political elite. Make a reservation at Le Chalet in Château-d'Oex for an evening spent in rural settings while savoring a delectable regional food!
