Leonardo
Leonardo is an Italian multinational company that specializes in aerospace, defense, and security. It has a global presence with 180 sites located across the world. It is the eighth-largest defense contractor in the world based on revenues in 2018. The company's major shareholder is the Italian government, which holds 30.2% of the company's shares.
The company was formerly known as Leonardo-Finmeccanica and originally as Finmeccanica. On 1 January 2016, it became a single industrial company by merging its subsidiaries, which included AgustaWestland, Alenia Aermacchi, DRS Technologies, Selex ES, Oto Melara, and WASS. The company is divided into five divisions, including Helicopters, Aircraft, Aerostructures, Electronics, and Cybersecurity. It also serves as the parent company and corporate center for its subsidiaries and joint ventures, such as Telespazio, Thales Alenia Space, MBDA, and ATR.
Leonardo is listed on the Borsa Italiana and is a constituent of the FTSE MIB and Dow Jones Sustainability Indices. In April 2016, the company was temporarily known as Leonardo-Finmeccanica as part of a restructuring process carried out by CEO Mauro Moretti, who assumed the position in 2014.
