Versalis
Versalis, formerly known as Polimeri Europa until April 5th, 2012, is a subsidiary of Eni, a prominent Italian oil supermajor. The company specializes in the production of chemicals and is the largest chemical company in Italy, as well as one of the largest in Europe, with over 5,000 employees and a production of approximately 9.5 million tons of chemical products in 2018.
Versalis operates both nationally and internationally in the production of base chemicals, intermediates, plastics, rubbers, and chemistry from renewable sources. Additionally, they are committed to developing technologies for polymer recycling, which aligns with Eni's broader commitment to the energy transition. Versalis aims to be a fully sustainable and diversified chemical company that generates value for all stakeholders while contributing to achieving carbon neutrality.
To accomplish this goal, Versalis relies on its extensive range of proprietary technologies and continuous research and development activity to interact with markets through a broad and constantly evolving portfolio of products for numerous application sectors. They have a vast distribution network and provide after-sales customer service, which has allowed them to expand globally.
In 2021, Versalis acquired Finproject, a leading company in specialized polymer applications. This acquisition allowed Versalis to integrate Finproject's market positioning for high-value-added applications with their technological and industrial leadership. The integration of Finproject's expertise and technology allowed Versalis to create significant value in the market, driving the company towards a more sustainable and diversified future.
