LG Display
One of the biggest producers and suppliers of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, flexible displays, and OLEDs is LG Display. With its headquarters in Seoul, South Korea, LG Display presently runs seven back-end assembly plants and nine fabrication sites across Korea, China, Poland, and Mexico.
In order to produce active matrix liquid crystal displays (LCDs), the Dutch company Philips and the Korean electronics company LG Electronics established LG Display in 1999. Formerly known as LG.Philips LCD, Philips sold off all of its shares in LG Display in late 2008. Another joint venture between the two businesses, known as LG-Philips Displays, was formed specifically to produce cathode ray tubes, deflection yokes, and associated materials, including glass and phosphors.
