Liechtenstein National Museum
The superb Liechtenstein National Museum is a must-see destination in Vaduz (Liechtenstein Landesmuseum). This state-run attraction is set in a beautifully maintained 15th-century former inn that Johann Wolfgang von Goethe had visited in 1788. That is the reason why it is one of the most beautiful historical sites in Liechtenstein.
Built-in 1438, It once housed the princely bar, the custom-house, and the government's seat. Between 1998 and 2008, work on the building was completed, and it was extended towards the mountain slope. In its three buildings and 42 exhibit rooms, the museum shows objects from Liechtenstein's history, culture, and scenery.
The Liechtenstein National Museum showcases various relics depicting the history of Liechtenstein and also features a natural history collection. Spotlights in the museum are a fantastic 1:10,000 scale relief model of the principality, as well as exhibitions on the country's prehistory and early history. Also, don't miss the numerous exhibitions of weapons and religious art. The Postal Museum is also worth a look (Postmuseum). This renowned site, a division of the Liechtenstein National Museum, offers several exhibitions of postage stamps issued since 1912 as well as the history of the country's postal service.
