The Treasure Chamber of the Principality of Liechtenstein (Schatzkammer Liechtenstein) is a must-see site in Vaduz, focusing on the country's rich royal legacy. The things on exhibit are made up of artworks and other treasures from the Princely Family's 400-year-old private collection, as well as donations from noteworthy private collectors like Adulf Goop, whose collection of rare bejeweled Easter eggs includes work by the famed Karl Fabergé.

Many valuable Russian Easter eggs are on display in the Treasure Chamber of the Principality of Liechtenstein, including the world-famous Fabergé Apple Blossom Egg, as well as other Fabergé Easter eggs and goldsmith masterpieces. Gutenberg Castle is one of the most beautiful historical sites in Liechtenstein. It stands high above the village of Balzers in the south of Liechtenstein. This impeccably preserved fortress dates back to the Middle Ages. It is considered as one of the five castles of the principality and one of two that have remained intact until nowadays. The castle was on a 70-meter-high hill, which has been inhabited since Neolithic times, and the Liechtenstein Landesmuseum today houses many of the most notable archaeological artifacts, including the ancient Mars von Gutenberg figurine.

The castle received considerable new building work around the start of the 15th century to restore damage caused by a siege in 1499 during the Swabian War. It was no longer used for military purposes in the 17th and 18th centuries, and it was damaged by multiple fires. Around 1750, it was still being utilized as a dwelling. The town bought the castle in 1824 and refurbished it significantly before selling it to Princess Franziska of Liechtenstein in 1854.

The Liechtenstein Landesmuseum in the Gutenberg Castle today houses many of the most notable archaeological artifacts, including the ancient Mars von Gutenberg figurine. The chapel and rose garden, as well as the many enjoyable cultural events and festivals hosted throughout the summer months, are highlights of a visit. Open-air concerts and outdoor theatre plays are among them. The superb Liechtenstein National Museum is a must-see destination in Vaduz (Liechtenstein Landesmuseum). This state-run attraction is set in a beautifully maintained 15th-century former inn that Johann Wolfgang von Goethe had visited in 1788. That is the reason why it is one of the most beautiful historical sites in Liechtenstein.

Built-in 1438, It once housed the princely bar, the custom-house, and the government's seat. Between 1998 and 2008, work on the building was completed, and it was extended towards the mountain slope. In its three buildings and 42 exhibit rooms, the museum shows objects from Liechtenstein's history, culture, and scenery.

The Liechtenstein National Museum showcases various relics depicting the history of Liechtenstein and also features a natural history collection. Spotlights in the museum are a fantastic 1:10,000 scale relief model of the principality, as well as exhibitions on the country's prehistory and early history. Also, don't miss the numerous exhibitions of weapons and religious art. The Postal Museum is also worth a look (Postmuseum). This renowned site, a division of the Liechtenstein National Museum, offers several exhibitions of postage stamps issued since 1912 as well as the history of the country's postal service.

Liechtenstein has five castles, two of which are still standing: Schloss Vaduz, the country's monarchy's seat, and Burg Gutenberg in Balzers. Of the others, all that is left are remnants, but each has its own attraction. If you just have time to visit one of these lovely spots, make it Schellenberg, where you'll be rewarded with the opportunity to explore two ancient ruins at once.

The Upper Castle (Obere Burg), the bigger of the two, was erected in 1200 and previously featured all the features of a classic medieval castle. It is located on the western outskirts of Hinterschloss, one of the Neu-Schellenberg village's burroughs. Tourists are welcome to visit. It is possibly the most accessible of all Liechtenstein castles due to its proximity to Hinterschloss.

The Lower Castle (Untere Burg) was completed in 1250, but both had fallen into disrepair by the 16th century. Schalun Castle, also known as Wildschloss, is the third collection of remains within walking distance of Vaduz. It was built in 1250 and then expanded multiple times until it reached its ultimate form and size in 1350. This lovely site, which dates from the 12th century, is well worth adding to your agenda if you have the time.

Vaduz Cathedral, or known as the Cathedral of St. Florin was built in 1874 by Friedrich von Schmidt - an architect from Vienna on the site of earlier medieval structures, which was a medieval church but destroyed. Florinus of Remüs (Florin), a 9th-century Vinschgau Valley saint, is its patron saint. The stone structure is similar to what one would expect to see in a Gothic cathedral. There is only one tower, located above the cathedral's main entrance, with two stairways leading to the cathedral's massive wooden doors. It is one of the tallest structures in the small principality, standing at 45 meters (148 ft).

It was formerly a parish church, but it has become a Cathedral since 1997. Despite the fact that Vaduz Cathedral may have started out as a private chapel on a nobleman's property, patronage rights belonged to the owner of the small castle. In 1989, Liechtenstein's Prince Franz Joseph II and his wife, Countess Georgina von Wilczek, were both buried in the church. Elisabeth von Gutmann was also laid to rest there.

It is one of the most recognizable buildings in Central Europe, surrounded by the magnificent Alps that are fairly impressive in every season. It serves as a significant landmark of the Archdiocese of Vaduz and is one of the most beautiful historical sites in Liechtenstein.
