As Eddie's life takes a drastic turn for the better, he catches the attention of powerful individuals, including a wealthy businessman named Carl Van Loon. Carl recognizes Eddie's potential and offers him various opportunities, including a high-stakes financial deal. However, the drug comes with dangerous side effects, and as Eddie becomes increasingly dependent on it, he discovers that without NZT, he suffers from severe withdrawal symptoms and returns to his former state of incompetence.
