Lycée Francais Charles de Gaulle
The Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle, sometimes known as the Lycée or the French Lycée, is a co-educational French primary and secondary independent day school in South Kensington, London. It is governed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and managed by the Agency for French Teaching Abroad, AEFE. Its curriculum is recognized by the French National Ministry of Education.
Approximately 4,000 students aged 3 to 19 attend the Lycée. Contains a “British Section” secondary school for students preparing for GCSEs and A-Levels. The school serves as a cultural hub for London's large French-speaking community, as well as one of the most academically successful French schools outside of France. In addition to servicing London's francophone populations, the Lycée has 9% of English-speaking or British ancestry students who were enrolled by parents who wanted their children to get a bilingual education. The Lycée continues to have a diversified and international student body, with over 50 countries represented.
In the case of French nationals alone, the school charges tuition that is subsidized by the French government.
The Lycée is dedicated to sports and competes in tournaments against British schools, notably in basketball and rugby. Along with academic performance, the school has always placed a strong emphasis on the development of creative talent.
