May have anticancer effects
Flavonoids and antioxidants, which are found in sea buckthorn oil, may have anti-cancer properties. For instance, the flavonoid quercetin, which is abundant in sea buckthorn, appears to help in the death of cancer cells.
Other antioxidants found in sea buckthorns, such as carotenoids and vitamin E, may also be beneficial. Sea buckthorn extracts may be able to stop the spread of cancer cells, according to a few test-tube and animal studies. Animal studies further support the concept that sea buckthorn may protect healthy cells from the side effects of radiotherapy, a popular cancer treatment.
