Michael dropped out of the Drama Center London to travel with the Oxford Play Company in the 'Three Sisters' play. During this period, he worked odd jobs such as labor and bartending. Sometime afterward, Michale landed his first on-screen role in the 2001 war drama television miniseries 'Band of Brothers. He continued to appear in numerous television programs and films until getting the part of a Sparta soldier in the fantasy movie '300'. The actor first gained attention as IRA rebel Bobby Sands in the Irish-British historical drama 'Hunger,' for which he received a British Independent Movie Award.
