Michael Jackson, the renowned performer and quirky cultural icon, died late yesterday afternoon, purportedly from an as of yet unexplained heart arrest, as is now known to everyone living in any civilisation in the globe. But people doubt many will pay attention to Michael Jackson the innovator. Yes, Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, was an inventor. He was awarded a US Patent in 1993 for his innovation, which was titled "Method and means for generating anti-gravity illusion".
Many well-known musicians and dancers put a lot of work into polishing and choreographing their performances. One of the inventors herein is a professional performer who has in the past included dance moves in his recorded video shows. He and the other dancers would lean forward beyond their centers of gravity to provide a striking visual impact. The dancer was able to lean forward to the necessary extent thanks to the usage of wires that connected a harness around her waist with hooks on a stage. However, it hasn't been viable to utilize this method for live performances since stagehands are needed to attach and subsequently disconnect the connections. The cords also plainly limited mobility of the arms and body.
By providing specialized footwear and a moveable hitch or post to which the specialized footwear can be detachably engaged, the present invention addresses the aforementioned shortcomings of the previously employed cable system and allows the wearer of the footwear to lean forward on the stage with his or her center of gravity well beyond the front of the shoes, producing the desired visual effect. By hooking the shoes onto an upright pole that projects upward from the stage at a specified moment, the performing artist will be able to lean forward and extend his or her center of gravity beyond the front or back of his shoes, producing the desired unique gravity-defying visual effect.
