Moby-Dick Has Been Rewritten in Emojis

For many years, Moby-Dick has been a staple of English education in high schools. It can be said with certainty that it is one of the most popular and widely read novels in history. It has been made available in more than 22 languages so that people everywhere can enjoy it.

And there is one translation that employs no words at all in addition to those that are more readily understood. The book also exists in emoji form, and copies of it are even kept by the Library of Congress. A man by the name of Fred Benenson translated the so-called "Emoji Dick." Before emojis were so widely used, he was one of the early adopters.

He would have lengthy talks with friends in emoji, and one day the question of whether it was possible to compose an emoji novel came up. Moby-Dick was chosen by Benenson because it is both well-known and in the public domain in order to change the concept such that it is a translation rather than an original work.
