Monaco
Monaco is a sovereign country in Western Europe. Also, the country has a monarchical government. It is bordered by France and the Mediterranean Sea. It covers an area of approximately 2,020 square kilometers. Furthermore, it also has a population of around 38,400, making it one of the least populated countries in the world. It is the second-smallest country in the world. However, it is expanding owing to a significant increase in land area via reclamation projects. These reclamation projects have increased the land area by approximately 1,974 km2.
The official language is French. However, people also speak English, Italian and Monegasque widely. It is famous as a playground for the rich according to the tax law. In 2014, more than 30% of citizens were millionaires. Albert II is the current monarch. As head of state, the prince wields a lot of political power. The Franco-Monaco Treaty of 1861 was the first to recognize the sovereignty of a country. It has also been a full member of the United Nations since 1993. Despite having two smaller units in Monaco, France is still responsible for the country's defense.
