Motor Oil (Hellas) Corinth Refineries
Greek-based Motor Oil (Hellas) Corinth Refineries S.A. is a company in the petroleum sector that specializes in trading and refining oil. In southern Europe and the Mediterranean, it is a dominant power in its industry.
On May 7, 1970, Vardis Vardinogiannis and Georgios Paraschos Aleksandridis established Motor Oil Hellas. Its main office is in Marousi, Greece. Vardis J. Vardinoyannis has held the positions of chairman and managing director since 1972. The company employs more than 2,000 people. The business had prospered in spite of the Greek crisis in 2015.
A sizable contract for engineering, procurement, and construction management services was awarded to TechnipFMC by Motor Oil Hellas in 2020. Three new processing units will be part of the new naphtha complex in Greece, which will have a daily capacity of 22,000 barrels (3,500 m3/d). The construction is anticipated to be finished in 2021.
The remaining 35% of Greece's refining capacity is under the management of Motor Oil's Korinthos plant. The Corinth Refinery, Europe's second-largest refiner, is run by the business, as are the oil and gas production and exploration facilities near Cairo, Egypt. It also owns a number of other gas and energy-related companies, including the Avin, Shell, and Cyclon chains of more than 2,000 gas stations across Greece.
