Public Power Corporation
The major electricity provider in Greece is the Public Power Corporation S.A. The Greek government established the PPC in 1950. Its principal objective was to develop and implement a national energy strategy that would provide all Greek residents with affordable electricity through the use of indigenous resources and products. PPC began integrating all of the minor local grids into the larger, integrated national grid. The business also decided to buy all the small municipal and private electric power-producing facilities.
The Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO or DEDDIE) S.A., PPC Renewables S.A., and PPC S.A. make up the PPC Group today. Even though PPC owns HEDNO S.A. (the Greek DSO), HEDNO S.A. functions autonomously in accordance with L.4001/2011 and the EU Directive 2009/72/EC regarding the organization of the electricity market.
