Mount Tahat
Mount Tahat is the first name on the list of the highest mountains in Algeria. Mount Tahat, with an elevation of 9,541 feet, is located 35 miles north of Tamanrasset and is Algeria's highest peak. The Tuaregs make up the majority of the population in these areas. In 1930, the first documented ascent took place. Tahat is also the Hoggar Mountains' highest peak. Tamanrasset, 56 kilometers to the south, is the closest city.
Mount Tahat was formed by volcanic activity. It is situated in the central Sahara Desert's arid, rocky high plateau region. This area is home to the Tuareg. To the north are the Tassili n'Ajjer mountains, which contain cave paintings from the 8000 to 2000 BC period. The rock art is pastoral, depicting cattle breeding and hunting of animals that are now only found in the climate of the southern Sahara. Mount Tahat attracts a large number of nature tourists who come for hiking adventures.
