Mutabbaq Samak/Mutabbaq Zubaidi
Did you know that fried fish and rice is one of Kuwait's and the world's most popular dishes? Kuwait has a long history of seafaring, thanks to its boat-building, pearl-diving, and fishing industries. In fact, seafood or fish-based meals coupled with spices and rice are among the country's most famous traditional foods. Mutabbaq Samak is a classic Kuwaiti dish, while Zubaid is the city's national fish. The fish is first seasoned, then floured, and finally cooked. The rice was seasoned with turmeric, onions, garlic, sumac, and parsley, then cooked separately. The fish is placed on top of the rice, followed by herbs, raisins, and almonds. Daqoos is a tomato, garlic, and cilantro sauce served on the side.
Mutabbaq Samak is one of the most delectable dishes available and is a must-try for all visitors to Kuwait. This Kuwaiti dish should be on everyone's food bucket list since the taste buds deserve their own flavor festival.
