Nike Air Mag

Another pair of the most expensive basketball shoes look no further than the Nike Air Mag. These futuristic-looking shoes were designed as a recreation of the shoes shown in Back to the Future Part II, replete with light-up panels and self-fastening laces. They became immensely popular after Michael J. Fox was photographed wearing them, and Nike produced 20 pairs of these beauties, each selling for $12,000.

After thousands of hours of labor, Nike has built a flawless duplicate with space-age materials, an electroluminescent out-sole, and a battery that will last for 3,000 hours – Nike's first rechargeable pair of footwear. The reproductions were restricted to 1,500 and were auctioned off on eBay in September 2011, with the proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's disease research. The auction alone generated $4.7 million.
