Occidental Chemical Corporation
Occidental is an international energy and chemical company with assets in the United States, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. OxyChem is the plastics and chemicals division of the company.
OxyChem manufactures PVC resin, vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and its precursor ethylene dichloride (EDC). OxyChem owns and operates 22 plants in the United States and has international operations in Canada and Chile.
The company's fully-owned subsidiary, OxyChem, produces PVC resins, chlorine, and sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) for many industries, including plastics, medicine, and water purification. In addition to calcium chloride, sodium silicates, chlorine cyanuric acid (isocyanurate), and caustic potash, the company also produces a variety of chlorinated organics.
Production for OxyChem occurs in three different countries: the USA, Canada, and Chile. Armand Products Company, which distributes potassium carbonate and potassium bicarbonate, is owned by OxyChem in partnership with Church & Dwight.
