Ocueño Manito Festival

The Ocueo Manito Festival honors the farmers of the year as well as their indigenous customs, t specifically honors the Ocueo farmer known as'manito.' This very special name represents the brotherhood characteristic of Ocueos, who traditionally greet each other by shaking hands and then raising the brow to pronounce the phrase 'ta la manito.'


One of the most popular aspects of this festival is the celebration of peasant marriage, an honor reserved for couples born in Oc or one of its districts. After the religious ceremony, the couple rode through the streets of town on a white horse and under the protection of a black umbrella, singing ten, sutras, world, and traditional dances and accompanying the entire town.

The lucky couple is chosen at random, the rest will have the opportunity to apply in the following years to obtain this valuable privilege. Because of the variety and richness of the festival, attracting thousands of visitors to visit, the Ocueo Manito festival is considered one of the most famous festivals of Panama.
