Olympus Corporation, a Japanese company, was formed in 1919 and specialized in microscope and thermometer industries before being well-known for its camera and audio devices, which it has subsequently sold to OM Digital Solutions. The Tokyo-based firm is now a world leader in endoscopy, with a 70 percent global market share in gastrointestinal endoscopes, but it also produces imaging systems, surgical equipment, disposables, and implants. In 2020, Olympus generated $7.3 billion in sales and employs more than 35,000 people in 39 countries.
