Oreo
The National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) is the developer of Oreo, which they call Oreo Cookies. This product started in 1912 and was trademarked the same year. The product has undergone several name changes. It was renamed Oreo Sandwich in 1921 and became Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookie in 1948 and eventually changed to Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookie, first used in 1974.
Since its opening in 1912, Oreo Cookies has gone on to become America's most popular cookie brand. While many snack brands were forgotten, Oreo survived and grew into a brand worth more than $800 million with a world reach. Currently, Oreo Cookies are sold in over 100 countries including Argentina, China, Indonesia, Mexico, Taiwan, Thailand and Venezuela.
The mainstream design of the Oreo cake hasn't changed since the day it was first released. In 1913, Oreo officially became a trademark, and the full name was Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookies in 1974. In the mid 70's, the Double Stuf Oreo product was launched at the request of consumers who liked to eat more ice cream. In 1987, Oreo targeted the "sweet" segment of the market with a cake topped with soft cream. In 1991, in response to consumers' desire to eat small pieces of food while busy, Oreo launched Mini Oreo biscuits. Nabisco claims that these tiny 1-inch-diameter cookies are exact copies of the original Oreo cookie's shape. When Mini Oreo was released, it was the first “tiny” cookie on the market and was named one of the best new products of 1991 by Business Week magazine. In the 90s, Oreo released low-fat cake to meet the requirements of health-conscious customers.
