Padre Island National Seashore Beach
A trip to the Port Aransas beaches isn't complete without a stop at the Padre Island National Seashore, the world's longest undeveloped barrier island. The 66 miles of beach, as well as the natural wildlife that makes it home, are protected by the picturesque national park.
Swimming, picnicking, shell hunting, and relaxing on the beach are popular activities, but wildlife watching is also popular. More than 380 bird species travel through or call Padre Island National Seashore home, and the Kemp's ridley sea turtle uses it as a nesting ground. Near the Malaquite Visitor Center, where you can get information about the beach and local activities, as well as restrooms and shaded picnic spots, is a good place to base your beach visit.
