Pagara Estafette

Each year, Pagarthe most famous festival in Suriname of all closes out the festival calendar. Pagara Estafette, which takes place on December 31, is essentially a large street party waving farewell to the old year and welcome in the new.

This isn't a typical New Year's Eve blowout, as the festivities usually begin at 10:00 a.m. and linger till the new year arrives. The festival is known for its spectacular fireworks displays and live music performances. This is one of the events in Suriname that should not be missed.
