All kind of romance may be found in Paris. Bertrand Delano, who served as mayor of the city for 13 years before resigning last month, was the first openly homosexual person to be elected to the position. Given its abundance of cafés, models, restaurants, and retail stores as well as its reputation as one of Europe's friendliest LGBT populations, the stylish city makes sense. It holds a sizable gay pride celebration in June that, in the coming years, is likely to draw 1 million spectators. One of the gayest populations in the world is found in the Marais district. Paris has 140 LGBT bars, clubs, lodging establishments, eateries, retail stores, and other establishments as of 2004.

It has the only legally recognized homosexual neighborhoods in France. The ideal area would be one with a significant lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) population. The most prominent manifestations of this in Paris are the places, people, policies, and institutions that are open to gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender (gay/lesbian) persons. The Place de la Bastille, Place de la Concorde, and La Defense are nearby Wikipedia destinations that are also intended to be inclusive, courteous, and nonjudgmental of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.
