Seattle is a major hub for acceptance both legally (legal same-sex marriage and marijuana use) and socially (accepting neighborhoods). Dan Savage, a homosexual author, adviser, and public advocate, as well as many other LGBT social icons, call it home. In Capitol Hill, Seattle's gay district, the city of cafés and hip hotels, there is a lively nightlife. LGBT families have exploded in recent years, and in Washington, there are even groups that assist couples in adopting children.

Seattle is a welcoming city where everyone may feel comfortable. With rainbow-painted crosswalks and a variety of opportunities to become involved in the LGBTQ+ scene, the Capitol Hill area, located just east of downtown, has long been known as the gay heart of the city. There are gay-friendly and gay-owned businesses almost everywhere in town, excluding Capitol Hill. The Seattle Men's Chorus and Seattle Women's Chorus are the biggest LGBTQ-identified men's and women's choruses in the world, and there are two yearly Pride events held in the summer. It's rather obvious that Seattle takes pride in everyone. The biggest LGBT-identified men's and women's choruses in the world as well as North America's largest community chorus organization are the Seattle Men's Chorus and Seattle Women's Chorus.
