Penguin Random House
Penguin Random House was founded in 2013 by Markus Dohle following the completion of a £2.4 billion transaction between Bertelsmann and Pearson to unite their respective trade publishing companies, Random House and Penguin Group .
Bertelsmann and Pearson, the parent companies, own 53% and 47%, respectively. Library Journal's Jane Ciabatari called the merger the publishing industry's response to Amazon.com's growing dominance in the book market.
Markus Dohle has been named CEO of a new company, which employs more than 10,000 people worldwide with 250 publishers and printing companies and a publishing list of more than 15,000 new titles each year.
Penguin Random House combines the print and digital commercials for adults and children and Penguin and Random House's print non-fiction books in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and India. Degree; Penguin's commercial publishing operations in Asia and South Africa; Dorling Kindersley worldwide; and Random House companies in Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia and Chile.
