RELX (Elsevier) is today considered the world's largest publisher of scientific publications. Publishing house based in the Dutch capital, owns about 2,500 multi-disciplinary scientific journals with a team of experts on the editorial board of up to 20,000 people.
Each year, Elsevier "publishes" about 420,000 peer-reviewed scientific articles, with nearly 1 billion newspaper downloads.
In the early days, Elsevier mainly sold literary books and made dictionaries. By 1930, Elsevier expanded into making publications of all kinds.
Thanks to its strong development, more than 20 years later, Elsevier continued to acquire two other domestic rivals, North Holland Publishing House and Excerpta Medica. Currently, Elsevier is a global corporation with revenue up to 2.3 billion USD.
