Pines Forest School
Pines Forest School was inspired by the Scandinavian all-weather school model and led by British OCN-trained Forest School practitioners. Community is at the heart of everything we do, emphasizing the relationship between learners and the natural world while promoting holistic learning. This approach aims to nurture knowledgeable, creative, intelligent, independent, confident, resilient, and compassionate students who care for the world.
Pines is divided into three areas: Pines Forest School, Pines Primary, and Pines Foundation, all sharing the same core principles and ethos. Pines provides learners with opportunities for supported risks in a safe and inclusive Forest site. They spend 100% of their time outdoors, working closely with individuals of different abilities and age groups, creating a community that values the environment and each other.
Pines Forest School is a continuous process involving daily interaction with natural spaces, not just a one-time visit. Pines encourages learners to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and themselves in a safe and inclusive Forest site, using learner-centered processes to foster community, development, and learning. They focus on independence, allowing children to explore and lead their knowledge. The teaching team demonstrates skills like tool usage, fire building invitingly and safely, building independence, and allowing children to participate in positive-led activities.
Pines Primary follows a core curriculum based on the EYFS, British, and Polish early learning goals. They aim for our learners to be brave, resilient, confident, creative, flexible, and happy. Their goal is to create a strong foundation for learning, encouraging the students to enjoy and celebrate learning.
