Port Antonio
Port Antonio, nestled between mountains and a double port, radiates the laid-back appeal of a peaceful fishing community. The region, which was formerly a hub for banana export, is far less commercial than the other tourist towns.
Hiking forest paths, rafting the Rio Grande, taking a tour to Reach Falls, and snorkeling and diving the coral reefs are all popular activities in Port Antonio. The stunning 60-meter-deep Blue Lagoon, fed by freshwater springs, is a popular swimming location.
Fort George, a British fortress built in the 18th century, and scenic Frenchman's Cove, where a fish-filled river pours into the sea, are two more attractions in the vicinity.
The beaches at Port Antonio are a magnificent blend of white sand, shallow waves, and green land outcroppings. If you prefer to swim in freshwater, the neighboring Daniel's River plunges down a canyon of natural rock, creating Somerset Falls, a sequence of waterfalls and pools.
