Power Station of Art
One of the few structures from the 2010 Shanghai Expo has been repurposed into something fascinating. The Power Station of Art is a modern art museum with some intriguing exhibits. It is China's first state-run modern art museum, housed in a former power plant. The museum is located on the left bank of the Huangpu River, on the Expo 2010 site.
Electric Fields, Surrealism, and Beyond, a contemporary art show organized by the Centre Pompidou, Paris's most well-known contemporary art museum, debuted in 2012. In stunning surroundings, it featured some of the city's major art displays (past exhibitions included the 2012 and 2014 Shanghai Biennales and a massive retrospective of Andy Warhol's work). PSA sees continual innovation and advancement as the key to Shanghai's long-term vitality as the city's creator of new urban culture. The museum has worked to create an open platform for the public to learn about and appreciate contemporary art, bridge the gap between life and art, and foster collaboration and knowledge generation across many schools of art and culture.
