Rhode Island School of Design (RISD)

Rhode Island School of Design is a private, non-profit institution that was founded in 1877 in Providence, Rhode Island. It is one of the country's first art and design schools. At RISD (pronounced "RIZ-dee"), over 2,500 students from all over the world pursue liberal arts studies and rigorous, studio-based learning while obtaining bachelor's or master's degrees in 22 disciplines. RISD Continuing Education classes are attended by about 5,800 children and adults each year.
