Rhode Island Wedding Venues: Glen Manor House

Glen Manor House is a beautiful French-style mansion in Portsmouth that serves as a banquet hall. The house was built to be H.A.C. Taylor's private residence, was later used as a Catholic school, and is now managed by a group of local volunteers who rent it out for private events like weddings. With a touch of historical charm, the space is ideal for a traditional or contemporary wedding. There are a variety of event spaces available, including large terraces and peaceful gardens, that can be used for both formal and more relaxed weddings.

H.A.C. Taylor, who lived in both New York City and Newport, began purchasing farmland in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, in 1882. Banking, railroads, mining, steel, and coal contributed to the Taylor family's wealth. In the 1880s, the family began spending their summers in Newport. Although Henry A.C. Taylor had built a home in Newport, he preferred the country life. Two dwelling houses, a grist mill, two barns, and two cribs were included in his first purchase of 111 acres from Halsey P. Coon. This area was already known as "The Glen" among the locals.
