Tahini includes lignans, which are antioxidants that help prevent free radical damage in your body and may lower your risk of illness. Free radicals are highly reactive molecules. They can harm tissues and lead to the development of illnesses such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and several malignancies when present in excessive amounts in your body.

Tahini has a high concentration of lignan sesamin, which has demonstrated promising antioxidant activity in test-tube and animal experiments. It may, for example, lower your risk of cancer and protect your liver from free radical damage. The more human study is needed, however, to completely understand these impacts.
