He is recognized as one of the finest bodybuilders of all time, having won the Mr. Olympia title for eight straight years. He held the record for most wins as an IFBB professional with 26 championships until it was broken by Dexter Jackson, in addition to his eight Mr. Olympia victories.
Coleman began working out while employed as a sheriff. He simply began competing in order to obtain a free gym membership. After winning amateur shows, he became more serious.
