Royal Melbourne Hospital - Parkville
The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) was Victoria's first public hospital, opening in 1848. Even though they only had ten beds, they had the support of the Melbourne community and were ready to give the best possible treatment to those in need.
Since then, a lot has changed in healthcare, but their ambition to provide the people of Victoria with a professional and compassionate workforce has not. They're still at the forefront of groundbreaking research and discoveries, striving to raise the bar on medical treatment.
They aim for excellence as a team. They're devoted to collaborating with care, research, and education partners in order to shape the next generation of outstanding physicians, scientists, researchers, and educators.
They're concerned about Melbourne's health and have studied how they may best contribute to the city's health needs, as evidenced by their mission, values, and community promise:
- The purpose: Advancing healthcare for everyone every day
- The community promise: Always there when it matters most
- The values: People first. Lead with kindness. Excellence together.
The RMH includes the City and Royal Park campuses, RMH NorthWestern Mental Health, which is a collaborative venture with the University of Melbourne, and the world-renowned Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, which is a joint venture with the University of Melbourne.
