Royal Palace Amsterdam
The Royal Palace of Amsterdam in Amsterdam is considered to be one of only three palaces within the Netherlands, it is subject to the use of the monarch through the method of the Act of Parliament. Royal Palace Amsterdam is located on the west side of Dam Square, next to the center of Amsterdam, opposite the War Memorial and next to Nieuwe Kerk.
The palace was built as an urban corridor during the Dutch Golden Age until the seventeenth century. The buildings became the royal palaces of King Louis Napoleon and later of the Dutch Royal Family. It is nonetheless one of only three palaces used by the Royal Family. The Royal Palace in Amsterdam is not the residence of King Willem-Alexander, but he does receive important guests from time to time.
