Sania Mirza
Sania Mirza is a professional tennis player from India. She is a former world No. 1 doubles player who has won six Grand Slam titles in her career. From 2003 till her retirement from singles in 2013, she was ranked as India's No. 1 player by the Women's Tennis Association.
Sania Mirza is India's highest-ranked female player, having peaked at world No. 27 in mid-2007. However, a significant wrist injury prompted her to retire from singles and concentrate on the doubles circuit. She has set several firsts for women's tennis in her home country, including winning a singles WTA championship, a Grand Slam title, and qualifying for the WTA Finals in 2014 alongside Cara Black.
Mirza is one of only two Indian female tennis players to have won a WTA title of any type, and she is the only one to have reached the top 100 singles rankings.
