After releasing her debut song five years prior, Britney Spears was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She is the youngest artist to achieve this distinction, being only 21 years old. She received it so early in her career, which makes it twice as spectacular as it often takes artists several years to acquire a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
Britney Spears' role as a pop celebrity has led to her being recognized for her contribution to the revival of teen pop music in the 1990s. She was referred to at that time as "the best-selling young musician of all time." For someone who hadn't yet turned 20, that's a significant accomplishment. As one of just two singers to have their debut at number one in three different decades, Britney joins Mariah Carey in that distinction. She was placed #20 on Billboard's list of the greatest dance club performers ever in 2016.
She has also received 12 MTV Video Music Awards, 22 Teen Choice Awards, a Grammy, and other honors as if they weren't enough recognition for any pop diva. Not bad for a young Louisianan from a tiny town who hasn’t even turned 40 yet.
