Slash

Slash is a British-American musician and the former main guitarist of Guns N' Roses. While still a member of the band, he launched the side project Slash's Snakepit and garnered international popularity and recognition. Born Saul Hudson to an inter-racial marriage in London, he had an early love of music and began playing the guitar as a teenager. He had a rough upbringing because his parents divorced when he was very young, and he was raised mostly by his father, with whom he had a terrible relationship.

His parents finally reconciled and then divorced, adding to his emotional anguish. He grew up to be a rebellious adolescent, resentful of the way he was raised. He detested school but was drawn to music and was persuaded to pursue music as a career by a teacher. He attempted to create a band with a buddy as a teenager, and while the band did not form, the experience aided his growth as a guitarist. In the mid-1980s, he joined the band Guns N' Roses and went on to earn international recognition as their main guitarist. He eventually quit the band to join the supergroup Velvet Revolver and then went solo.
