Sting
Gordon Sting, born Matthew Thomas Sumner, is an English musician, singer, songwriter, actor, and philanthropist. Sting earned his unusual moniker from a striped jumper he wore during his early days, which made him appear like a bee. He is most known for his singing and songwriting work with legendary new rock wave band 'The Police.' Sting, regarded as one of the world's brightest and most gifted musicians, followed his love of music throughout his undergraduate years by performing jazz. In 1974, he received his first break when he was asked to join a band named 'Last Exit'.
However, after meeting Stewart Copeland in 1977, Sting chose to join another band known as 'The Police' with him and Henri Padovani, who was eventually replaced by Andy Summers. After nearly a decade of many successful songs, the band disbanded in 1983, and Sting began his solo career. Sting's solo career was a success when he offered a varied spectrum of music with songs like "Englishman in New York," "Fields of Gold," and others, riding on the wave of fame he earned during his time with 'The Police'.
