Solomon islands national museum
One of the most beautiful historical sites in the Solomon Islands is the Solomon islands national museum. The national museum of the Solomon Islands is situated in Honiara. It belongs to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism department.
The museum is made up of several structures, each of which houses a gallery exploring topics including inter-island politics and the independence of the Solomon Islands. The museum's grounds also include offices and an outdoor stage-equipped auditorium. The museum has a collection of more than two thousand items, which includes items from the Second World War as well as archaeological artifacts and specimens from the natural sciences. Additionally, it has geological and marine specimens. The museum started gathering modern sculptures in 1972. The museum and Osaka University worked together in 1988 to record and preserve the music and dance customs of the islands.
An exhibition honoring Australian South Sea Islanders who were "black birded" to labor in the sugar cane fields of Queensland and Northern New South Wales between 1863 and 1904" was shown at the museum in 2014 as a way to remember them.
