Souq Waqif

Souq Waqif is one of the world's oldest markets and has been a vital trade site since ancient times. This market has something for everyone, including fresh fruits and vegetables, handcrafted items from the area, apparel, and shoes.

This location is currently a popular tourist attraction, complete with restaurants, shopping, and plenty of places to explore. If you want to learn more about the souq's history, you can even take guided excursions of it. A variety of cafes serve wonderful meals at reasonable pricing.

Because it was a trading market, the area used to be positioned closely adjacent to the shore to allow boats to access it. Although it still faces the ocean, the direct route for boats to the shoreline is now separated by a large road and the recently constructed park. The souq is close to the Corniche seafront, making it ideal for people-watching while having some ice cream or coffee. To gain a taste of Doha's history and culture, pay a visit to the Souq Waqif market.
