MIA's collection of nearly 6,000 artifacts from around the Muslim world provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity to immerse oneself in thousands of years of history, culture, and custom. The Museum of Islamic Art houses 1,400 years of Islamic art from three continents. MIA is the flagship of Qatar Museums, which is developing the State of Qatar into the Middle East's cultural capital under the direction of its Chairperson, H.E. Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
MIA encourages curiosity, understanding, and delight by preserving great collections of Islamic art and presenting extraordinary exhibitions. A visit here will teach you about Islam and provide you with an understanding of the rich cultural history of many diverse regions, such as North Africa, South Asia, and Persia (Iran). You will study architecture and design methods such as mosaics and stucco work on walls and ceilings. It features wedding gowns dating back to the nineteenth century.
