St. Vincent

The largest island in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is Saint Vincent island. It is home to La Soufriere, a live volcano that last erupted in 1979. Its summit is the country's highest point. Kingstown, the largest town, is a modern, bustling metropolis with a population of about 25,000 people. St. Vincent also serves as the island's primary port. The rest of the population is primarily concentrated along the coast. Beautiful beaches with black sand (a result of the island's volcanic origin) surround the island's interior, which is mountainous and densely forested. The beaches in the Grenadines, on the other hand, have white sand.

The Vermont Nature Trail is a popular way to see many of the island's endemic species, as well as over 500 native parrots while exploring the island's spectacular natural scenery. A scenic coastal trail will take you past Fort Charlotte and a plethora of spectacular waterfalls, with breathtaking views around every bend. You could even attempt to climb to the top of the Sufriere volcano.
