Taipei European School (TES)
Taipei European School (TES) is considered a symbol of multicultural education, including British, German, and French regions. Established around 1990 to serve expatriate families residing in Taipei, TES seamlessly integrates these areas, sharing facilities while maintaining its own national curriculum.
TES registered as a non-profit organization under the Department of Education of the Taipei City Government, has more than 1800 students from about 57 countries. The school's commitment to providing a globally recognized education is underlined by its authorization by the International Baccalaureate Organization to run the Diploma and Secondary School programs, achieving its status as a Chartered School. In addition, TES is also affiliated with prestigious organizations such as the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA), Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Étranger (AEFE) and Bundesverwaltungsamt-Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen (BVA -ZfA).
TES operates across two campuses, Swire European Primary Campus (EPC) at Wenlin Road and Swire European Secondary Campus (ESC) at JianYe Road on Yang Ming Shan. With the majority being British, the student body is a vibrant mix of nationalities, mainly from Europe and North America. The school fosters a diverse and inclusive environment, with students and faculty representing more than 50 different countries.
The school's leadership structure includes four headteachers who oversee separate departments, all under the supervision of TES Chief Executive John Nixon MBE. From the primary school for students aged 3 to 11 at the Wenlin Campus to the secondary school offering the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), TES offers a comprehensive educational journey.
In the field of sports, TES students actively participate in many different sports, competing in inter-school international tournaments such as FOBISIA. The school offers a variety of sports, including soccer, football, basketball, softball, volleyball, track and field, and swimming. The annual House Cup continues to attract students to participate in friendly competition, with four houses—Bora, Sirocco, Mistral, and Marin—contributing to vibrant school spirit.
As TES has continued to grow, adopting programs such as the IB High School Program and cultivating a dynamic sports culture, the school has solidified its position as an international center of learning.
