Tang Contemporary Art
Founded in Bangkok in 1997, Tang Contemporary Art has grown to include galleries in Beijing and Hong Kong. The gallery, a pioneer in the Asian contemporary art scene, focuses on Chinese and Southeast Asian contemporary artists, including Ai Weiwei, Huang Yongping, Shen Yuan, and Wang Du. Tang Contemporary Art was the first gallery to relocate to H Queen's, Hong Kong's first "vertical art complex", which is situated in a cutting-edge glass skyscraper created exclusively for galleries.
Tang Contemporary Art is well-known for putting on fascinating shows that foster dialogue between regional and international artists at each of its venues. S.E.A., New Generation (2019), for example, brought the work of nine Southeast Asian artists to Bangkok, whereas Everlasting (2017) featured the work of seven US-based artists in Beijing. The gallery exhibits at several art fairs, both in China (such as ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair, Art Shenzhen, and West Bund Art & Design, Shanghai) and internationally (such as Art Basel in Hong Kong, Art Busan, Art Jakarta, Frieze New York, and ASIA NOW, Paris).
