Telecom Italia

Gruppo TIM, legal name is TIM S.p.A. (formerly Telecom Italia SpA) is an Italian telecommunications company with headquarters in Rome, Milan and Naples, (with Telecom Italia Tower) providing telephone services, mobile services and DSL data services. .


It is the largest Italian telecommunications service provider in terms of revenue and subscriptions. It was founded in 1994 by the merger of several state-owned telecommunications companies, most notably Società Italiana per l'Esercizio Telefonico pA, (known as SIP, from the earlier Società Idroelettrica Piemontese), operator formerly state monopoly telephone operator in Italy.


The company's shares are traded at Borsa Italiana. Since 2017, the Italian State has centralized the "Golden Power" for Tim, allowing the government to take a number of actions as far as the strategic interests of the country are concerned.
