They haven't yet tried the Model S Long Range or Plaid, but our 2020 Model S test vehicle clocked in at 2.4 seconds from zero to 60 mph and provided hours of enjoyment thanks to its rapid power delivery. The Plaid variant has a third electric motor, bringing the total output to 1020 horsepower and allowing it to reach 60 mph in 2.1 seconds in our testing. The regular Model S has proven to be a responsive sports sedan with precise steering and body motions. Drivers can pick between heavy and mild steering effort in two separate settings, although neither of them allows for more road sensation. On the highway, the ride comfort is good, the handling is precise, and it's confident and almost serene.
